In physics, a relationship describing the
rate of flow of a fluid through a narrow
tube. For a capillary (very narrow) tube of
length l and radius r with a pressure
difference p between its ends, and a liquid
of viscosity `eta', the velocity of flow
expressed as the volume per second is
`pi'pr^4/8l `eta'. The formula was devised
1843 by the French physicist Jean Louis
Poiseuille (1799-1869).
